Implementation Guide
Download and Install Screaming Frog SEO Spider:
- Open the tool and enter your website’s URL into the ‘Enter URL to spider’ box, then click ‘Start’ to begin the crawl.
Review Crawl Results:
- Once completed, go to the ‘Internal’ tab, where all internal URLs on your site are listed.
Locate 302 Redirects:
- Check the ‘Status Code’ column for URLs labeled with ‘302.’ These represent temporary redirects.
Export Data:
- Click ‘Export’ to download the list of URLs with 302 redirects for further review.
Steps to Fix the Redirects
Log into Shopify Admin
- Access the Shopify admin dashboard.
Access Online Store Settings:
- Navigate to ‘Online Store’ and then to ‘Navigation.’
Edit or Set Up Redirects:
- Identify the URLs with 302 redirects, and either edit these redirects or create new ones if necessary.
Switch Redirect Type to 301:
- When editing or creating a redirect, set the ‘Redirect Type’ to ‘301 Moved Permanently.’
Update Navigation and Internal Links
- Review and update navigation menus, internal links, and any hardcoded URLs to reflect the new 301 redirects.
